YouTube

Video, channels and live content in one app

YouTube is a video streaming and publishing app for people who watch content, follow channels, or create videos from an Android device. Its catalogue covers entertainment, music, news, education, tutorials, sports and other formats, with support for both standard videos and short-form clips. It suits casual viewers as well as users who regularly return to specific creators.

Find and keep track of what you watch

The Home feed recommends videos based on viewing activity, while search helps users locate specific topics, channels and uploads. Subscriptions provide a direct way to follow creators, and the Library brings together viewing history and saved content. Playback includes selectable video quality and captions where they are available. Viewing activity and subscriptions can carry across supported devices when the user is signed in.

Tools for creators and communities

Users can record, edit and upload videos through the mobile app, and eligible channels can start live broadcasts. Comments, live chat and other channel features give viewers ways to respond to creators and discuss content. The app also includes Shorts for brief vertical videos, alongside regular uploads and live streams.
