Google

Search, answers, and everyday tools

The Google app is a general-purpose search and information tool for Android. It suits people who want one place to look up facts, browse current information, check sports results, explore topics, or find useful content based on their interests. Search can be started by typing or speaking, while the app also connects users with visual and on-screen search features.

Ways to find information

Google Lens lets you search with the camera or an image. It can help identify objects, translate visible text, and work with written problems. On supported devices, Circle to Search lets you search for content shown on the screen without leaving the app you are using. Voice search is useful when typing is inconvenient, and the app can identify a song when you hum or whistle a melody.

Personalised content and assistance

The Discover feed presents articles, updates, sports information, and other content selected around a user’s interests. Search results may also include generated summaries and follow-up options for broader questions, giving users a way to explore a subject from several related searches. The exact tools available can depend on the device, account, language, and region.

What the listing shows

Google is published by Google LLC and listed in the Tools category under package name com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox. It has a supplied rating of 4.07 out of 5 from more than 28.9 million reviews, with 10 billion-plus installs. Those figures reflect its broad use across Android devices, although the app’s usefulness will depend on which search, assistant, camera, and personalisation features are available on a particular phone.
