Messaging for Android users

Google Messages is Google’s communication app for sending texts, photos, videos and group messages from an Android phone. It suits people who want a straightforward SMS and MMS app with richer tools available when RCS is supported by their device, carrier and region.

What you can do

• Send high-quality photos and videos through supported RCS conversations.
• Use group chats with features such as typing indicators and improved media sharing.
• Continue conversations across supported phones, tablets and computers.
• Personalize chats with options such as different bubble colors and selfie GIFs.
• Use spam protection to help identify unwanted messages.

Privacy and availability

Google Messages supports end-to-end encryption for eligible one-to-one and group conversations between Google Messages users. RCS features are not available everywhere and may depend on your carrier, market, device and data plan. Some functions may also require access to a beta release. The app is available for Wear OS as well.
