YouTube Kids

Video made for children

YouTube Kids is a child-focused entertainment app for families who want a simpler, more age-appropriate way to watch online videos. It presents a selection of cartoons, music, learning videos and other children’s content in an interface designed for younger viewers. Parents can choose settings for preschoolers, younger children or older children, helping the available content better match a child’s age.

Parental controls

The app gives adults several ways to shape what their children can watch. Parents can approve specific videos, channels and collections, block content they do not want shown, and report videos for review. A built-in timer can also limit viewing time, while the watch-again area makes it easy for children to return to familiar favourites.

• Age settings: Select a viewing experience suited to preschool, younger or older children.
• Content selection: Allow approved videos, channels and collections when more control is needed.
• Viewing limits: Set a timer to help bring screen time to an end.
• Child-friendly navigation: Large controls and a visual layout make browsing easier for younger users.

Who it suits

YouTube Kids is aimed at parents and carers looking for a dedicated video space for children rather than unrestricted access to the main YouTube service. It can suit families with children at different early ages, since the available settings and controls can be adjusted as viewing needs change. As with any large video catalogue, adult supervision remains useful when deciding which content is appropriate for a particular child.
