Google Meet

Video calls for everyday conversations

Google Meet is a communication app for one-to-one video calls, group meetings, and online conversations. It suits families keeping in touch, friends planning together, remote teams, and organisations that need a familiar way to meet face to face. The app is developed by Google LLC and uses the package name com.google.android.apps.tachyon.

Tools that help conversations run smoothly

Meet includes automatic lighting adjustments, noise cancellation, and live captions to make calls easier to follow in different environments. Captions can help when someone is speaking quietly or when listening is difficult, although language support is not universal. Availability of some functions may also depend on the device being used.

More ways to take part

For a less formal call, participants can use reactions, visual effects, filters, and backgrounds. Certain plans add features such as meeting recording, AI-assisted note-taking, and real-time speech translation. These options are not available in every account or language, so the available tools can vary between users.

Widely used across Android

Google Meet has a 4.44 out of 5 rating from more than 11.7 million reviews and records 10 billion-plus installs. Those figures reflect its broad use for personal calls, education, and workplace meetings. As with any video service, call quality depends on the connection, the device, and the conditions around the user.
