Photo management without the extra layers

Gallery is Google’s straightforward photography app for browsing, sorting and improving photos and videos stored on an Android device. It suits people who want a responsive local gallery rather than a service built around cloud backup, accounts or social sharing. The app is especially useful on phones with limited storage or modest hardware, where a focused media browser can be easier to manage.

Find photos with less manual sorting

The app can organize media into useful groups such as people, selfies, nature and documents, helping you reach common photo types without building every album yourself. Folder-based browsing is also available for users who prefer to keep their library arranged around device folders, camera storage or an SD card. Moving and copying files between locations makes it practical for maintaining a larger offline collection.

Simple tools for everyday edits

Gallery includes an automatic enhancement option for quick adjustments to lighting, contrast and colour. It is aimed at fast corrections rather than a full professional editing workflow, so it works best when you want a photo to look better with minimal effort. Its offline focus also makes it suitable for viewing and organizing personal media when mobile data or an internet connection is unavailable.
